Reiki Healing for Animals

Reiki is an ancient non-intrusive complementary therapy. A hands-on healing energy technique, Reiki enhances the body’s own innate natural ability to heal itself on all levels. Animal Reiki compliments conventional veterinary medicine. It has no major side effects or contraindications.

Animals suffer just like humans do and are unable to voice their feelings, pain or distress. They rely on us to notice when they are feeling off or unwell so that we may take them to the vet for help. Not so easy to diagnose, detect, or treat are their emotional or mental state of health. Like humans, animals can and do suffer from stress, hurt feelings, loss, bereavement, grief, sadness, betrayal and a host of other conditions. We often take for granted that our animal is fine just because it is fed, watered, walked and housed well. If we stop for just a moment and think of all the situations an animal has or may have to deal with in its life we soon discover the amazing depths of strength and courage they endure as they give us endless joy. robin on a branch

How Reiki Can Help Animals

Illness and Surgery

Animals who are recovering from a debilitating illness, surgery or a prolonged chronic condition can be supported by Reiki Healing along with their regular veterinary care. Recovery time is often significantly reduced following Reiki Healing.
Elderly Animals
Reiki Healing is extremely beneficial for elderly animals suffering from arthritis and other age related conditions often relieving pain and discomfort. Black Cat
Terminally Ill Animals
Sometimes we are not meant to heal and none of us both animal and humans can escape the fact that the end will come at sometime. That is the only real thing in life that is guaranteed. However, quality of life at the end is what is most important. Reiki Healing can gently support the animal through their final transition, removing fear, bringing peace and acceptance to their final days. Distressed owners of terminally ill animals often benefit from receiving healings along with their beloved pet at this time.
Grieving Animals
Animals form incredibly close bonds with their owners and experience all the emotions associated with this relationship. However, when a human dies, so much emphasis is put on the grieving human element surrounding the death that often the pets of the deceased are not fully taken into consideration. Animals grieve just like humans and sometimes more intensely as they cannot vocalise their pain. Depression, apathy and loss of vitality can manifest after the death of an owner. The death of a companion pet also causes deep grief. Reiki Healing can help the grieving animal to release the pain attached to their emotions, helping them to move on and find peace.
Abused or Traumatised Animals
Reiki healing can be extremely beneficial to the abused or traumatised animal assisting them to release blockages associated with painful incidents and memories, opening them to the possibility of trusting in life and humans again. In a way it is a type of rebirth and often manifests in the return of vitality, interest, enthusiasm and fun. Reiki aims to help the animal find peace and acceptance within, restoring a sense of balance to their lives.
Homing and Re-Homing
We all get excited about getting a new pet and want the best for it. We bring it to the vet for vaccinations and check-ups. We rush out and buy cosy bedding, matching food and drink bowls and designer collars and leads. If the animal is young it may be its first time away from its mother and siblings and just like a young child, will pine and fret. Older animals, especially in the case of horses can change ownership regularly causing immense distress to the animal as friends both animal and human are left behind. In most cases, with loving nurturing care and patience the new animal or re-homed animal will settle and come to terms with their new environment. Unfortunately that is not always the case and problems can occur. These problems usually manifest as behavioural problems but can also present as illness or apathy. Just one look into the eyes of a depressed animal will give an indication to the depths of its sadness. Reiki Healing can give comfort and support to the animal as blockages connected to its sadness are gently removed and their energy field restored and revitalised. Horse and Rider
