Conor's illness and eventual death touched and impacted the lives of so many people. I always knew that I had so many wonderful people around me and that I was blessed with my family and friends. However, I was still unprepared for the overwhelming support both emotional and practical, the compassion, generosity, sensitivity and kindness that poured forth constantly from not only family, friends and neighbours but also the community at large.  Also, the genuine kindness of strangers will stay with me forever. I will never be able to thank all those involved for I know many of you worked annonymously in the background and so cannot be individually named. However, you know who you are and please know that I have never forgotten or taken for granted all that you did during those dark days.

For those of you who are known to me I would like to Thank and Acknowledge the following people

School Friends
I cannot select one schoolfriend in particular as they pulled out all the stops when it came to showing Conor Kindness, support and compassion. To all the boys who sacrificed time out in the yard during lunch to keep Conor company in the hall. To the numerous boys who carried his school bag for him when the steroids had ruined his back. For all the wonderful cards, picutures and letters they sent to him which really cheered him up. For forming a Guard of Honour outside his school as his funeral procession passed. For forming another Guard of Honor outside the church. For singing such beautiful songs and Conor's favourite 'Wonderwall' during the service. For being brave and reading out the prayers of the faithful when you were all so upset. For inviting me to your Christmas Play and presenting me with a lovely bouquet afterwards and again singing Conor's song in memory of him. For orgainisng a special monring in the school for his first anniversary. For coming to his anniversary mass and all the hugs. For stopping me in the street when we meet just to say hello.
I am so proud of you all and I will keep you in my heart always as you grow up and go forth into the world

Fr. Paul, Clane, Co. Kildare
For being there and offering your support and understanding. A kind and gentle person, who sensitively guided me through all the necessary arrangements for Conor's special day and final journey. The way you celebrated his funeral mass was suitable and fitting for a child. No heavy religious wording or slants. Your words touched all our hearts and left me with beautiful memories of such a special occassion. Thank you for the lovely words and blessings at his tree planting ceremony in the school and yet again at the ceremony orrganised by his classmates on his first anniversary. It was with you he made his communion and therefore only right that you should be the one to bless his final journey.

For all those who so generously  organised fundraising or donated money in the community to keep us financially afloat during Conor's illness. People felt powerless and wanted to help. The last thing you want to have to worry about is paying the bills or working when your child is dying. Thanks to all who contributed. You helped in so many ways you couldn't imagine. We couldn't have done it without you.

Ken Healy for your support.
For all  the sandwiches and beverages you generously supplied that night
